This is my beautiful Moscow. As the capital city of Russia, it is also the most populous “state” in Russia. With over 15 MILLION people in the city, the population of Moscow trumps my hometown (St. Anthony/Rexburg) population by over…15 Million. The Russia Moscow Mission consists of the city of Moscow and immediately surrounding areas, including Zelonograd and Podolsk, and the cities of Nizhni Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Smolensk, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tver, Tula, Ryazan, and Kaluga. Moscow is currently the largest city in Europe. Our mission is located in the European area of Russia, east of the St. Petersburg Mission, in the area west of the Ural Mountains.
The Moscow Russia Stake (the first stake in Russia), organized on 5 June 2011, is located within our mission. The stake includes six wards and three branches. We have ten other branches located in our nine other cities (Nizhny Novogorod has two branches). The mission recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary, and you will find tremendous strength in the leadership and dedication of the Russian Saints. Here, as elsewhere, being a faithful member of the Church requires sacrifice and faith, but our members here rise to the challenges in miraculous ways.
The people of Russia have amazing hearts and amazing stories. I can’t wait to meet them!
